Chicago Northshore, a study in disappearing

Part of what I like to offer my wedding clients is to be a fly on the wall. That may sound strange, but I truly believe that is when the photographer captures those true candid moments. And for me, those are the memories that will be most cherished for years to come. You see, I don’t insert myself into the story. Rather, I let the story of the wedding day present itself and I am there for it all.

Queue my love for photojournalism and documentary photography out in the world and the introduction to new types of work here on the blog. I started working with Chicago Northshore last year to document life, streetscapes and candid moments, just north of chicago. This work was meant to give you a sense for what it might feel like to live in these communities. The thing I didn’t see coming was that it also got me outside more. I found myself exploring new towns near me. And, while I still am drawn to my beloved neighborhood restaurants in Chicago, I may have found some new favorites in Evanston and beyond.

Thanks for having me, Chicago Northshore! Let’s do it again, shall we?

TLDR: It is all connected. But also, the world is a lot right now and if you look closely, we can still find those sparks of joy. They exist and I am grateful for that. Cheers!
